Synopsis
In my ongoing conversations with client organizations undergoing agile transformation, I’m observing a subtle yet powerful shift, moving beyond process change and focusing on creating a culture of accountability.
I welcome this development because many agile transformations fall into the trap of merely going through the motions of process change, without cultivating the real essence of ownership and empowerment. Accountability is what makes the transformation stick, helping teams truly “get it.”
However, fostering a culture of accountability is no simple task. Just shouting, “Be more accountable!” risks being perceived as a shift of responsibility, with punishment looming. The ambiguity of what people are accountable for is also a significant challenge. Leaders must communicate with clarity, de-learning instructive language and re-learning how to frame goals and objectives—or risk hearing, “Just tell us what to do.”
In this webinar, I explored why building a culture of accountability is critical for the modern organization in today’s complex world, why it’s intricate, and most importantly—how to make it happen.
