Training and Coaching for Capability Building - Agile OD

Grow People. Build a Learning Organization.

Develop your most sustainable competitive edge

Technology is advancing rapidly, and with AI, it is becoming more accessible than ever. What used to be a durable advantage in products, tools, or processes is increasingly easy to replicate.

As a result, sustaining a “hard” advantage is becoming more difficult. Differentiation is shifting toward something less tangible, but more enduring; the quality of your people, how they think, collaborate, decide, and act.

This is where capability building matters.

Our focus is on helping organizations become a Learning Organization, where leaders and teams continuously build the ability to adapt, improve, and perform in changing environments.

Our Focus Areas for Capability Development

Over the years of working with organizations, we have found that these four core areas drive the greatest impact on capability development.

Human-Centered Leadership & Teamwork

Developing awareness of the human side of leadership and teamwork; emotions, motivation, trust, and psychological safety. Enabling leaders and teams to work effectively with people, not just manage tasks.

Critical Thinking & Decision Making

Strengthening how leaders and teams think, frame problems, and make decisions in complex environments. Building clarity, sound judgment, and the ability to evaluate trade-offs, navigate uncertainty, and make decisions that hold in practice.

Ways of Working & Team Processes

Designing team processes and cross-functional ways of working that enable collaboration and value delivery. Turning how work gets done into a deliberate, aligned system that supports coordination, accountability, and performance.

Culture, Change & Adaptability

Shaping a culture that enables organizations to change and adapt over time. Building the capability, capacity, and willingness to change and respond to evolving conditions with alignment, resilience, and a shared commitment to continuous improvement.

How We Build Capability

Training with Applied Mental Models - Agile OD

Coaching in the Flow of Work - Agile OD

Training with Applied Mental Models

Working with organizations over the years, we have found that training needs tend to arise in two distinct ways.

Some are driven by strategic initiatives; such as AI adoption, workforce redesign toward skills-based organizations (SBO), and Agile ways of working. Meanwhile, there is a strong and ongoing need to strengthen leadership and middle-manager capability in general management; improving change leadership, decision making, and the ability to build and lead empowered teams.

We support both.

Training for Strategic Initiatives

In conjunction with our support in facilitation and consulting for strategic alignment, we help organizations build the capability to follow through on change, transformation, and innovation initiatives through targeted training.

When organizations take on initiatives such as AI adoption, new ways of working, or workforce redesign, the challenge is rarely just strategy. It lies in how well leaders and teams can understand the intent behind the initiative, translate it into actions and behaviors, and make decisions in new contexts while adapting how they work.

WIIFM

Meanwhile, it is wishful thinking to expect people to adopt change simply through instruction. Resistance is natural; persuasion has limits, and coercion often backfires.

What is needed is an empathetic approach that addresses the “What’s in it for me?” (WIIFM) for each individual; connecting change to personal motivation and relevance. Doing this at scale requires thoughtful intervention design and finesse in delivery. This is where we bring our expertise.

Training for General Management Capability

Interestingly, as organizations adopt AI and move toward skills-based models, there is an increasing need for leaders who can act as architects and orchestrators across functions, stakeholders, and partners.

General management education matters now more than ever. Organizations expect leaders to work across people, strategy, technology, and execution; making trade-offs and integrating perspectives rather than optimizing in silos. The work of a modern leader is no longer defined by functional expertise alone, but by the ability to make sound decisions across competing priorities in uncertain conditions.

Continuous and Iterative Learning with Applied Mental Models

There is no single textbook that covers everything a leader needs to learn. Meanwhile, learning is most effective when it is driven by real need. A challenge arises, an opportunity presents itself, and the leader asks, “How do I approach this?” We support this by offering an extensive, organized set of learning topics structured as mental models; ready to be accessed and applied as needed.

We also encourage a learn-apply-reflect cycle. Our training is designed to prompt action, invite experimentation, and build in reflection; enabling leaders to learn through practice and refine their approach over time.

Asynchronous and Synchronous Delivery

We design our training to fit how leaders learn and work. From self-paced formats to facilitated sessions and workshop-style training, we deliver both asynchronously and synchronously; online and in person. This allows organizations to scale learning while maintaining relevance and engagement.

Why Applied Mental Models?

You’ve got to have models in your head. And you’ve got to array your experience – both vicarious and direct – on this latticework of models.

– Charlie Munger

Portable, Memorable, Applicable When They Matter Most

Mental models provide compact, portable forms of learning that are easy to recall and apply when it matters most. They distill complex concepts into practical thinking tools; helping leaders see patterns, question assumptions, structure ambiguity, and synthesize coherent solutions.

Used consistently, they turn management knowledge into disciplined leadership practice; sharpening ideation, decision making, and the ability to align and mobilize people.

A Scalable Way to Learn

“What to learn?” is a simple question, but one of the hardest in learning and development.

Leadership continues to evolve, with new themes constantly emerging. At the same time, general management is broad and deep; making it a continuous challenge to provide learning that is both comprehensive and coherent.

The short answer is: many things.

Mental models provide a structured way to navigate this breadth. They organize learning into clear, manageable units; allowing leaders to build capability progressively rather than consuming disconnected topics.

Learning itself is inherently personal and non-linear. Each individual builds their own “latticework” of knowledge, skills, and abilities over time; reinforced through repeated application in real work. A mental model-driven approach supports this process by enabling learners to access what is most relevant to them, at the right time, and apply it in context, at scale.

We Apply What We Teach

We use the mental models in our work; not only as learning content, but also in how we design and deliver the learning experience. This makes learning more effective and lasting, while giving sponsoring leaders and HR teams practical tools they can apply beyond the session.

Coaching in the Flow of Work

High performance in leadership and teamwork is not built through knowledge alone; it emerges through practice in real situations. In Positive Psychology, this is often described as “flow”, a state where people are fully engaged, focused, and operating at their best. Reaching this state consistently requires more than understanding concepts; it requires applying them in the moment.

Much like learning to ride a bicycle, new skills acquired through training need to be practiced, adjusted, and internalized over time. This is where coaching comes in. It complements training by working directly with leaders and teams in their day-to-day context; helping them apply learning, build confidence, and translate capability into sustained performance.

How We Coach

We deliver impact through three core coaching modalities and two specialized areas. Across Individual (Executive), Team, and Group Coaching, we follow the guiding principles and professional standards of the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

Our specialized coaching areas address recurring organizational needs. Team Process Coaching draws on deep experience from Agile, Design Thinking, and Lean practices. Workplace Conflict Mediation & Resolution Coaching follows the professional standards of the International Mediation Institute (IMI).

Core Coaching Modalities

  • Individual (Executive) Coaching Whether you are growing as a leader or navigating complexity at work, one-on-one coaching provides a focused space for deep reflection and purposeful action.
  • Team Coaching From startup co-founders to “team of teams” in large organizations, we support high-performance team development at every scale. Team coaching strengthens alignment, collaboration, and collective effectiveness.
  • Group Coaching Group coaching creates a supportive environment where individuals work on their own goals while learning from others with similar intent. In organizations, it is a powerful way to develop talent, foster peer learning, and build cross-functional alignment, often alongside group training initiatives.

Specialized Coaching

  • Team Process Coaching A variation of team coaching, this format focuses on teams working within structured approaches such as Agile, Design Thinking, and Lean practices, including Kanban and Kaizen. In this context, coaching naturally integrates with training, facilitation, and advisory support to strengthen both mindset and method.
  • Workplace Conflict Mediation & Resolution Coaching We support workplace conflict mediation and resolution through both facilitation and coaching. When handled well, conflict becomes a powerful learning opportunity for all parties involved. Enabling individuals to work through and resolve issues themselves leads to more lasting outcomes and stronger working relationships over time.

Outcomes and Measurement of Success

We are inherently Agile in our approach, and one of the key practices we apply is empiricism, or evidence-based management.

We measure progress and success contextually and iteratively; using real signals from the work as it unfolds, and adjusting our understanding of outcomes and impact based on what we observe rather than relying on fixed assumptions.
