Full-Stack OD with Coach Takeshi
Integrated Coaching, Training, Facilitation & Consulting

Organization Development is, at its core, organizational systems development — aligning strategic direction (where you’re heading) with capability building (how you’ll get there) so growth, change, and innovation take root. That’s why I practice OD not as consulting or learning & development alone, but as an integrated, full-stack discipline across coaching, training, facilitation, and consulting. Learn what I offer in each OD modality:
Why I Do Organization Development
I’m fascinated by organizations: often amazed, sometimes amused. Over three decades in companies large and small (first in banking, then in start-ups), I’ve seen how, when people come together, remarkable products and services reach the world. I’ve also seen the inside reality: smart people wrestling with misalignment and fuzzy communication, burning out in silo friction and indecision, and good people at heart sometimes displaying toxic behavior.
Organization Development is how I address both truths. I view the organization as a system — a team of teams — and work to align strategic direction with the capabilities to deliver it. OD isn’t easy; it’s a profession of balance, creative tention and many dualities: hard and soft skills, solid process and genuine care for people; finesse and dexterity while staying grounded and steady. It’s a bit like being both a full-stack engineer and systems integrator: breadth and depth both matter. And unlike licensed professions, OD is still being shaped by its practitioners. The path can be demanding, but it’s deeply rewarding, because the world needs organizations that work better for the people inside them. That’s why I do OD.
How I Deliver:
Consulting & Facilitation for Strategic Alignment ×
Coaching & Training for Capability Building
I bring a full-stack OD skill set to deliver a truly integrated service to the organization as a whole. Broadly, the work falls into two streams: helping leaders and teams align strategically on goals and approaches, and building the individual and collective capabilities to achieve them. For the first, I wear the consultant and facilitator hats; for the second, the coach and trainer hats. Here’s how I help in each delivery modality:
My OD consulting is always integrated with learning and development; it is about creating and sticking to a feedback loop. I keep to the basics: PDCA (plan, do, check, act) when we design a fresh intervention from diagnostics through delivery, and OODA (observe, orient, decide, act) when we improve or recalibrate an existing program. Each engagement is co-designed with clear hypotheses, short cycles, and visible measures of progress.
Here are some recurring OD consulting themes:
- Organization Design & Structure
- Change Management & Transformation
- Innovation Program Management
- Process Improvement & Ways of Working
- Team Effectiveness
- Learning Systems & Capability Building
- Culture & Engagement
- Communication, Conflict & Collaboration
- Diagnostics & Evidence-based OD
Most organizational change and innovation efforts don’t fail because of bad planning — they fail in delivery. The real gap is execution: translating good ideas into shifts in behavior, structure, and culture. That space between intention and implementation is where we focus our consulting.
Facilitation is neutral process leadership, typically workshop-style work that helps groups think together, build shared understanding, and make real decisions. I co-design outcomes and agendas with sponsors; create psychological safety and productive dialogue; and translate discussion into clear outputs: decisions, actions, owners, and timelines. I make extensive use of Liberating Structures and naturally embed Design Thinking through repeated diverge–converge cycles to include every voice, keep energy high, and turn options into decisions. I also specialize in multinational, cross-cultural sessions; my third-culture upbringing helps me design inclusive, high-context conversations across geographies and backgrounds.
Here are some recurring facilitation themes:
- Strategy & Alignment Workshops
- Cross-Functional Problem Solving
- Leadership Offsites & Team Chartering
- Ways of Working & Team Agreements
- Retrospectives & After-Action Reviews
- Conflict Facilitation & Difficult Conversations
- Customer Journey Mapping & Service Blueprinting
- Design Sprints
- Large-Group Dialogues (Open Space, World Café)
Facilitating a discovery workshop is often a great way to start an engagement; it serves as both an assessment and diagnostic opportunity for me, and gives the client a low-risk way to experience how I work.
Coaching is a distinct learning modality: a partnership that uses thought-provoking dialogue to turn reflection into purposeful action. I coach to ICF standards (PCC, ACTC) with clear agreements, trust, and confidentiality; the client owns the agenda and outcomes. Its dialogical, less structured nature makes coaching my favorite approach in learning and development. It is also one of the most demanding to practice; I invest heavily in contracting and in distinguishing the different coaching formats so the work stays targeted and fit for purpose.
In OD contexts, coaching strengthens individual and collective capability and sustains the momentum of growth, change, and innovation. I have dedicated pages explaining my coaching practice in general, and for each format:

Training is structured capability building and a core element of OD work. My preference is workshop-style learning, although I also design non-workshop formats (e.g., lectures, self-paced modules) when that better fits the context. The aim is to support the strategy-to-execution path by turning concepts into everyday, on-the-job practices.
To ensure KSA transfer (knowledge, skills, abilities), I use simple learning loops: short pre-work for shared baselines; in-session drills and simulations; after-action reviews; and on-the-job assignments with feedback. Training often runs alongside coaching and facilitation so new skills are reinforced in real work. Content draws on a latticework of mental models and micro-skills that teams can apply immediately.
